Wow, has it really been two years since we reviewed Riverbend?! Ian dropped the hammer on them a couple summers ago because the greens where in poor shape. Well I am happy to report that the greens are in excellent shape this year. They rolled as fast and true as the Home Course. Not a lot of new info to report other than the condition of the greens. The one issue I did have with the course was the bunkers. The sand was very shallow and ground beneath was as firm as hardpan. I would love to see them add about an inch of sand to ever bunker so players get consistent results from well executed shots. Overall very happy with Riverbend; good price ($38), great greens, and good pace of play for a late afternoon weekend round… Just stay out of the sand. :-)

Rating Notes:

- Solid customer service as always.
- All greens in good shape and rolled true.
- Course was in good shape other than the thin layer of sand in the bunkers.
- $38 for 18 on a Saturday in June is a good value.
- Overall they offer just about everything you need, just be prepared to wait for a stall at the range (it’s a popular spot for beginners).  The mats on the range are the thicker more forgiving field turf style which is a plus.

A mear two months ago we gave this place a really good rating…..and then we played there yesterday morning.  Hammered.  Wow.  Seriously, wow.  We played the front 9 and surrendered.  3 of the greens in the front nine we just dilapitated and finally I got to use the word dilapitated in a review!  They weren’t “Snohomish Bad,” but they were not in good shape either.  The par 3 greens especially we in poor shape.  The driving range is astro turf with weeds growing on it.  How funky does astro turf have to be to allow plant life to grow directly on it.

Rating Notes:
- Friendly people all around so they get a good score here.  Nice work guys.
– Some of the greens were ok, but three of them were hammered. aka dilapitated :)
– Not very impressed with the maintenance.  The fairways were ok, tee boxes average, etc.
– $17 for 9 on a Wednesday.  No bad…..not great.
– They do have alot of practice areas, a par 3 course, and a putt-putt course.  Had a hard time finding a beer which is never a good sign.

Located in Kent, Riverbend Golf Complex is easy to get to from North Peirce County or South King County. With the 18 hole course, a par 3 course, driving range, pro shop, and golf club repair shop it has a lot to offer to all golfers. Riverbend also has the largest men’s league in the state with massive payouts for skins and KP’s. At 6,701 yards from the Blue tees the Riverbend 18 is a challenging course. Factor in thicker than average rough in rainy and cool conditions and you’ve got a recipe for big numbers. We started our day at the range witch is across the street from the course along with 2/3 of the pro shop. After a quick bucket ($5 for 50 balls, $8 for 100) we hit the course for the weekend twilight rate (after 4 PM – $24). The young guy in the pro shop was very polite and let us tee off a few minuets early. The course was in great shape overall with the greens rolling well. The first few holes don’t make a lasting impression but Riverbend really shows it’s teeth at number 4, (number 1 Hdcp hole) a 438 yard par 4 with a slight dogleg left and a well bunkered smallish green. Riverbend also offers two very long par 3’s. Number 8 is 210 yard and 16 measures in at 195. Needless to say short hitters need not apply… The course ends with a lot of water in play, 17 (383 yard par 4) and 18 (565 yard par 5) both have trouble right and the water will gobble up even a slightly missed placed fade. Overall the course was in great shape and very inexpensive. Everyone in my foursome felt the course was challenging but fun and fare.

Rating Notes:
- They did get us out to play for the twilight rate a little early. Appreciated that.
– Greens were in good shape but a little bumpy.
– Course appeared to be in good shape and the bunkers were consistent.
– $24 weekend twilight rate is a great deal.
– Putting & chipping greens were in good shape but the driving range is across the street and is only 200yds. Restaurant is shut down.
